About the artist
Graduating Art School in Newcastle UK in 2004 Tony Graystone spent the next few years traveling the globe before eventually settling down in his new home New Zealand. After several years in the commercial print industry, and inspired by the diverse cultures he’d experienced, Tony was ready to return to the Art scene, he began a career as a freelance illustrator in his Auckland studio as well as producing his own range of graphic t-shirts and art prints.
Tony is a mixed media artist using many digital tools to enhance his practice but relies on traditional pen and paper methods as a base for all his creations. His aesthetic has a very timeless feel which is inspired by etchers, engravers and printers makers of the past. He is most commonly found exploring intangible themes of spirituality and psychedelia, lending from religious and native tribal symbology to express his unique brand of illustration.
